What counts as a referral

A referral is an order placed with your Link-Up code that has money on it: a deposit paid at Mas Camp, a payment in full, or a payment plan opened. An order that is placed but never paid does not count, and is cancelled automatically after 72 hours.

Merchandise, pre-registration deposits and event tickets bought with a code are not referrals. An order containing your own registration is not a referral, and the same masquerader can only be counted for one captain once per season.

The rewards

• Premium Swag Bag. Every captain with at least one paid referral. No limit. Collected with your Carnival package.
• Carnival Boat Ride ticket. The first 400 captains to reach two paid referrals, ordered by the moment the second referral was paid. Once 400 tickets are awarded no further tickets are issued. A reserve list of 50 is held in case an awarded ticket is returned to the pool.
• Premium Costume Upgrade and tier upgrade. The five captains with the most paid referrals at the close. Where a tier upgrade or the Premium Costume Upgrade does not exist for the tier held, an equivalent credit towards add-ons is given instead.
• Grand Prize Raffle. One entry per paid referral. Two names are drawn on 18 December: the first takes a weekend for two in Miami or Barbados (return flights from Piarco and two nights’ accommodation, to a stated maximum value, travel to be taken by 30 June 2027 and not during Carnival week), the second takes a Full Upgrade Package. Visas, insurance, transfers and spending money are the winner’s responsibility. A captain may win only one raffle prize.

Eligibility

Open to masqueraders holding a paid Take Off 2027 registration. Employees of Showtime Carnival, section leads and members of their households may earn Link-Up perks but are not eligible for the boat ride, the leaderboard prizes or the raffle.

Counting, corrections and the close

Counts are taken from Showtime Carnival’s own records and update through the day. If a referral is refunded, cancelled or purged for non-payment before the close, it stops counting and any reward that depended on it is withdrawn; where that frees a boat ride ticket it passes to the next captain on the reserve list. Counts freeze at the close and are verified for 48 hours before results are published on 18 December, after which they stand.

Ties on the leaderboard are settled in favour of the captain who reached that number of referrals first.

The public leaderboard

Captains with three or more paid referrals may appear on the public leaderboard, shown as a first name and last initial with their referral counts. No email address, code, order or amount is ever shown. A captain may ask to appear as a number instead, at any time, in My Registration or by contacting us.

General

Prizes are not transferable and there is no cash alternative. A captain may hold a swag bag and a boat ride ticket and also win a leaderboard prize and a raffle prize. Showtime Carnival may correct errors in counting, and may vary or withdraw this promotion for reasons beyond its control, giving notice by email to registered masqueraders. Decisions on eligibility and counting are made from Showtime Carnival’s records and are final. This promotion is run by Showtime Carnival, 51 French Street, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
