When is Trinidad Carnival 2027?

The two days on the road, the season around them, and the deadlines that matter if you plan to play mas with Showtime.

Trinidad Carnival 2027 falls on Monday 8 February 2027 and Tuesday 9 February 2027. J’ouvert opens the celebration before dawn on the Monday, and Ash Wednesday (10 February) closes it. Showtime’s Take Off 2027 band plays both days.

Why the date moves every year

Trinidad Carnival is always the Monday and Tuesday immediately before Ash Wednesday, so it shifts with Easter. In 2027 that puts the road on 8 and 9 February. Book flights and accommodation around those two days, and give yourself at least a couple of days either side: one to collect your costume and settle in, and one to recover.

Your personal timeline

  1. Now: choose a section and register. A TTD 800 deposit is due within 48 hours of ordering; unpaid orders are cancelled after that window.
  2. Between now and 1 January: pay the balance in full or through a monthly Partial.ly plan, and confirm your sizes using the sizing guide.
  3. Once paid in full: your QR boarding pass is emailed automatically. Keep that email.
  4. Collection window: bring the boarding pass and a government-issued ID to Mas Camp, 51 French Street, Port of Spain.
  5. 8–9 February: play mas.

Dates follow the Ash Wednesday rule. Showtime’s registration for a given year typically opens after the band launch the previous summer.

Questions first-timers ask

What time does Carnival Monday start?
J’ouvert begins in the pre-dawn hours of Carnival Monday and is booked separately from your costume band. Showtime’s Monday road reporting time and meeting location are sent to registered masqueraders before the event.
Is Carnival Tuesday a public holiday in Trinidad?
Carnival Monday and Tuesday are treated as national holidays in Trinidad and Tobago: offices and most businesses close, and roads along the parade route close to regular traffic.
When should I arrive in Trinidad?
Arrive early enough to collect your costume during your section’s collection window and rest before Monday. Many first-timers fly in the Thursday or Friday before Carnival and leave on or after Ash Wednesday.
Can I still register after 1 January 2027?
1 January 2027 is the deadline for balances and sizes on existing registrations. Whether new registrations remain open depends on section availability; check the store or message the team.
